The substation which has been placed on an offshore petroleum and gas company’s platform has been designed and manufactured for Qatar State’s oil and gas company. The steel, isolation, welding, painting, and other details are specialised for an offshore structure. The design takes into consideration the high-risk corrosion effect (C5).
The design is done considering international special offshore standards and considering all the scenarios of lifting, sea transport, road transport and service conditions. The total area of the substation is 148,83 m² with the dimensions of 4,50x40,85x4,35. Architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical designs and installations are included and completed due to customer technical specifications and completed in 3 months.
Since it was necessary to fit a lot of equipment in a small area in the building, the coordination of all electrical, mechanical and structural disciplines was done with 3D solid modelling and BIM method as in all projects.
All walls, floor and ceiling were insulated with special rock wool insulation materials due to the necessity of the building to be A60 fire resistant in marine standards. Special A60 fire-resistance certified doors were used. All cables and electrical equipment have high fire and corrosion resistance. Ventilation ducts are made of 3 mm thick stainless steel, special dampers were used at the entrances to the building, and the ventilation needs of the building were solved in an optimum way.
